STRUCTURAL DESIGN FEATURES:

This ‘mountain retreat’ featured 3 levels of both conventional wood, heavy timber and steel framing to create a unique and functional residence. Large walls of windows, open upper level, cantilevered decks and both flat ballasted and mono-sloped roof created opportunities for creative engineering solutions to achieve the architect’s goals. The project is designed to withstand heavy snow, wind and seismic events with the used of wood shear walls and steel moment framed.
