PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Located at 44 East Main Street in Downtown Bozeman, the Gallatin Building was retrofitted and now serves as the location of the Downtown CO-OP. This project was recognized by The Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory Board and granted Hicks Engineering with a 2012 Excellence in Historic Preservation Award.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN FEATURES:

Originally, this building had a partial basement with unreinforced rubble foundation walls. The basement was further excavated and now provides finished square footage. Strength and integrity was added with the additional of reinforced shotcrete in the basement. The lack of positive connections throughout the building made failure in high seismic event very likely. With the addition of custom connections, reinforcing and a new storefront steel moment frame, the building in now better suited to endure a seismic event.
